last week was… glorious. haha we were fortunate to be able to go on a cruise with our good friends randy and devlyn. it was the perfect baby moon! pictures will soon follow. well, maybe not so soon. its back to the daily grind, and my procrastination level is right back up where it was when we left.
i'm knee deep in midterms week, and there are a million other things i'd rather be doing. liiiike, shopping for our cruise! and finding maternity pants. pants over here are becoming a joke. this weekend we spent up at our friends the Gurrs' cabin, and i ate crap non-stop, which resulted in me feeling like crap non-stop, but i could not find the self control to quit! terrible cycle. so naturally, i had to wear super long shirts to hide the fact that not even my rubber band was keeping my pants together. tmi? oh well. plus the fact that i'm in scrubs all week long doesn't help, because i forget that i don't fit into my clothes anymore until the weekend comes, and this last month our weekends have been jam packed.
the cabin was amazing. it ended up raining all saturday, but i loved it. gave us an excuse to stay inside and relax next to the fire. the boys decided to still take the quads out, who knows why. it started raining after mat and brandon had been out for probably half an hour, and when they finally came back, they were both caked with mud, haha. i went out to take a picture and mat just kept saying, "i feel like i'm zero degrees!" and based on his expression in the picture, i'm guessing he couldn't feel his face. mat also bonded a lot with brandon and aimee's little guy mason. can't wait to see him with our sweet babe. unfortunately, mat is still real awkward with little girls, so he didn't play a ton with rian, but he did a liiiiittle bit :) he said that once kacey and karl have their girl, he will probably be less awkward. i know though that when we have our first girl, that boy is going to be mush. saturday night the rain turned into snow, and we woke up to a winter wonderland! thaaaat started melting pretty much ight when the sun came out haha. but we were able to enjoy it for a little bit at least. all in all, a great weekend.

school has been… crazy. i'm stressing trying to get one more patient to confirm appointments for me so that i can relax knowing that i have my requirements. i've posted on mesa consign and mesa biz, and have gotten a good amount of responses, but after i send more details, only a handful have responded back. i just need one more! i know that i'll find one and it won't be a big deal, i just don't like not having the security. on top of that, our million projects going on are driving me nuts. i'm just trying to get through midterms, then i'll be home free for a week. nothing sounds better :)
funny how i always seem to find time to blog when i should be studying… whoops. hey at least i posted pictures this time.
20 weeks! holy canoli. we've got about 5 months left to go, and if you did your math right, that means that the way dr.'s count pregnancy, it's actually 10 months, not 9. those tricksters.
it's been a whirlwind week. friday we took part in Give Kids a Smile, a huge event put on by AT Still University to benefit kids in lower income families. the dental school has been screening elementary schools around the area for months, and made lists of kids that need dental work, whether it be cleanings, fillings, crowns, you name it. friday, they bussed all the kids over to at still and we provided whatever care they needed free of charge! it was nuts, but such a fun day. it's an amazing feeling to be able to make a difference for these kids and their families, even if they really don't understand the impact it will have on their future health.
friday evening we went camping with a few friends. I was reluctant to go, but was really glad I did in the end. This was probably the most fun I've had camping, and I actually slept most of the night! Big accomplishment for me. Randy decided to bring an 8 man tent, so we all slept in that haha. I credit the huge tent and the half pill of drowsy nausea medicine for my great night's rest.

The other night I was on the second years side grabbing a denture brush, and one of the teachers asked me how I was feeling, then commented that I seemed much perkier than before. That made me realize how much I am loving being pregnant. Now that I'm past the nausea and loss of appetite, and now that I can feel this boy moving around, I am honestly loving it. Every time I feel a jab, to makes me smile. My favorite part of going to bed now is laying still with my hands on my belly and feeling him kick. Seriously, it's such a miracle and I have no idea how anyone could ever not want their child after carrying it for 9 months. Blows my mind.
today was my official "anatomy check" ultrasound, so i got to see my little guy again. he is such a wiggle worm, its awesome. i feel him a lot, especially when i'm not distracted with school or homework. but it never ceases to amaze me when i see him on an ultrasound and he is wiggling away and i can't feel a thing. i know that soon enough i'm going to wish i didn't feel him so that i could get some sleep, but for now, i'm just fascinated.
he's been hanging out upside down in there for the last few ultrasounds, so here's to hoping he's still like that when its time to make his entrance! i was so paranoid that i would loose him for the first trimester - even now i freak myself out a bit anytime i get an ultrasound or get to hear his heartbeat on the doppler. but we have made thus far and he is healthy as can be!
i've started pooching the last few weeks, and i've been itching like crazy so i know this little one is growing at a rapid pace, and bringing my belly with him. i tried to get a good belly shot the other day, and felt ridiculous, but i know it'll be fun to look back on. for the most part, you can't even tell i'm pregnant, unless i'm wearing a tight shirt or something really thin that clings. but i'm mainly at that "i swear i'm not getting fat," stage. the other day when i was trying to find something baggy enough to hide the pooch but not frumpy, i decided that the sooner i embrace the bump, the better off i'd be. and if people don't know i'm pregnant and just think my gut is big, then so be it! and honestly, it has made me feel much better. as thrilled as i am that i have a babe growing in me, you'd think i wouldn't care about getting big. but alas, i am only a girl.
in other news, i'm a month and a half into my second semester of hygiene school, which means i've got about two and half more months to go until 3 months of freedom! well, mostly freedom. we've got an online anesthesia lecture, and a 2 week anesthesia clinic some time during the break, but i'll at least be home. school is pretty rough this semester. less classes, yes. but each week i feel like the lectures are jam packed with so much information that its impossible to leave feeling like you get it. so on top of having mentally exhausting lectures, i get to go home and reteach myself everything. clinic has been fun though. we started seeing patients a few weeks back, and even though the first night was terrifying, i have actually enjoyed it! i finally finished half of keaton's cleaning this last monday, and will finish it in 2 weeks. and i think i'll be able to finish up my mom next week. which means keaton, my first patient who hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years and had lots of fun stuff for me to clean off, took 4 appointments, and my mom, who has gone to the dentist religiously for the majority of her life, will take 2 to 2.5 appointments. not too shabby! after my mom, i've got 3 more patients scheduled, and 3 more that i need to get in order to pass this semester. i have two numbers i need to call, and then just one more after that! mat will be my last resort, since he has serious dental phobia and i really don't want to have to work around a nitrous mask to get his teeth cleaned.
being pregnant and being in dental hygiene school has had its challenges. specifically the last two weeks of last semester, when my morning sickness kicked in. i was fortunate enough to only have nausea, and not ever throw up, but the nausea was awful. it's eased up a lot, but i still get waves. these days i'm just tired all the time, and i have to make it a point to eat, otherwise i get caught up and go too long without food, and that's when i get sick. i'll be around 30 or 31 weeks when i finish this semester, and am so glad that i'll have the last 2 months or so at home, getting ready for baby boy and floating in the pool while my belly keeps getting bigger and bigger. pretty soon my patients are going to have a little mister kicking their heads while i'm working on their teeth!
even though this pregnancy was barely planned, i am so happy. every time i feel a jab, every time i look at his ultrasounds, every time mat and i talk about how our lives are about to get flipped upside down. next year we'll be juggling a million things at once, but it will all be worth it. this boy is going to be so loved (insert googly-eyed emoji here).
a boy. a boy! we could not be more thrilled.
we found out on jan 31st when my dear friend Natalie did an ultrasound for us at the school she attended. I'll save that story for a day that I have more time, but I wanted to make a point to say that I have started to feel little jabs here and there from our little booger :) I started to feel them the week after the ultrasound, but wasn't sure if that's what they were, but it's happening regular enough now that I'm sure. I can't believe that in 4.5 short months, we will have a son. Ahh!
