i realize widowing isn't a word. well, maybe it is? when i type it, that little red squiggly line doesn't show up underneath it. well, i doubt it actually means what i'm using it as. anyways.

mat left to texas yesterday for work, and i am a temporary widow! so far it hasn't been terrible, but its been barely over 24 hours haha. luckily, christmas prepping has kept me busy so far. i've got my list mostly done, and i've been shopping and putting together all the christmas necessities! i also grocery shopped and went to costco today - two big accomplishments haha.

the day before mat left, he had a show out in phoenix. so my parents watched the kids (plural! whoa!) and i got to enjoy his show, grab dinner with the band, then catch a movie with him afterwards. twenty minutes into the movie, i woke up to him leaning over in my face, saying, "BUSTED!" followed by, "should we get our money back and see this movie when we're both more alert?" haha we were both exhausted! so we got our refund, picked up the kids, and watched/fell asleep to a movie in bed instead. either way, it was so nice to have a little date night kid free before he left. i got one picture of us before the end of the night - it was actually while we were standing at guest services waiting for our refund haha. i've gotten pretty terrible at taking pictures and really need to fix that. i have so many pictures from when i was single and when we were dating, but i've slowly taken less and less. well, less of us anyways. our kids have pleeeenty of pictures haha.

so mat's new band is called the deadbeat cousins, and it consists of him, randy day, braden mckinnon (his actual cousin), and jaren soelberg. it's completely different than murrieta, more blues/rock instead of folk/rock. but it is so fun to watch them! they sound amazing together, and you can't help but move when you hear the music. i'm so excited to see where this band ends up. the sound guy at the show offered to record their set, and the recording turned out awesome! here it is on sound cloud - https://soundcloud.com/user-319766999

in other news, perry girl is 3 weeks old! it blows my mind that in 6 days she'll be a month old. this has honestly flown by. she slept a solid 6 hour stretch last night! i actually woke up before she did and checked my phone, then checked her monitor and she was awake and moving around, just hadn't started fussing yet. this morning, bens came in my room and snuggled in bed with me while watching cartoons for maybe a half hour before perry started crying. he immediately hopped off the bed and ran out, so i watched in the camera as he walked up to her rock n play and asked "perry, okay?" then proceeded to turn off her noise machine and start pushing her rock n play out of her room and into mine haha. he is seriously the sweetest brother! my heart melts every time i see him try to take care of her. they are going to be the best duo as they grow up!

oh, another event this week that i don't want to forget, but kind of do actually, is when we were getting ready to head to my parents for sunday dinner. mat and i were getting ready, and i went to grab perry, who was asleep on the floor, and walked in right as benson was cracking open his second egg on our rug! ughhhh i was so mad. he was very upset, whether it was because of my reaction, because he got caught, or because he was put in his room and got a flick on the cheek, i don't know haha. but it was disgusting to clean up. a couple days after, mat walked into our house and started complaining of how bad it reeked, but we couldn't find out what was causing it. nothing in the garbage, our disposal didn't smell. i sat down to change perry's diaper on the floor, got a whiff, and realized it was from the eggs! so terrible. i apparently didn't clean it well enough. so we have rug cleaners coming tomorrow (i've been wanting to get rug cleaners for awhile, this just gave me a reason to get them asap haha) and we'll get our rug back sans stench.

i should be finishing most, if not all, of my christmas shopping this weekend. then its all about wrapping! my second favorite part :)
